Click here to listen: Bruncheon Club audio
One rainy Saturday in February I indulged in a four-course brunch of Buck’s Fizz, scrambled eggs on soda bread with rocket, grilled grapefruit, blueberry buttermilk-pancakes and coffee. All this in the company of five strangers, in the front room of a basement flat in Hackney. Since cooking up their first deluxe menu of eggs royale and Bloody Marys last July, underground diner The Bruncheon Club has caught the attention of The Times, Time Out and the London Review of Breakfasts. I was permitted kitchen access and quizzed my hosts Gregg and Maya as they slaved over a hot stove.
